Ensuring timely payment of your referral fee.
As a HomeLight partnered agent, it’s important that referral fee payments are made on time to maintain access to new referrals and avoid additional charges. Below are the key details regarding referral fee payments, late fees, and restrictions on claiming new referrals if payment is not made on time.
Payment Warning
- If your referral fee is not paid within 20 days of the close date, a payment reminder will be sent via email, text and mobile app notification. This serves as an alert to review your payment status and amount due in your HomeLight portal.
Late Fee Policy*
- If payment is not received within 30 days of the closing date, a payment reminder and late fee notification will be sent via email, text and mobile app notification.
- a 3% late fee will be applied to the outstanding balance and will be reflected on the total amount due in your HomeLight account.
- A 3% late fee will be applied for each 30-day period that payment is not received.

Restrictions on Claiming New Referrals
- If payment is still outstanding after 45 days, a payment reminder and pause notification will be sent via email, text and mobile app notification.
- You will no longer be able to claim new HomeLight referrals.
- Your ability to accept new referrals will be paused until full payment, including any late fees, is received.
How to Make a Payment After Receiving Payment Reminders
- Navigate to your HomeLight portal by following the "Pay Now" link in either the email, text, or mobile app notification.
- An action item will show when in your HomeLight portal indicating the amount due, the due date, the associated address.
- Click or tap "Pay Now" to be routed to your invoice.
- Choose your payment option and insert your information.
- Click or tap "Pay" for your payment to process.
- You will receive a confirmation screen of your payment including invoice number, payment date and payment method.
- Your invoice and/or receipt can easily be downloaded from this confirmation screen.

- You can pay your HomeLight referral fee through Card, Affirm, Bank transfer, or US bank account.
What if I have a question regarding payment?
- In your payment reminder, there is an option to "Talk to a HomeLight Closing Specialist". Click or tap this to send a notification to HomeLight's Closings team and someone will reach out to you shortly!
I accidentally exited our of my payment reminder, what do I do?
- No problem, even if you dismiss your reminder, there will still be a dashboard follow up item for you to review and a banner at the top of your screen.
